Death, why christians hate death more than pagans

Christians fear death more
Christians fear death more

The subject of death is respected by everyone every where, Many do not know what to make out of it and they end up not wanting to think about death either. But this will be like a woman not wanting to think about it that she is a woman. It’s something you can never run away from just because it is part of the un avoidable.

However, the fear for death is relative, some may confess to fear a little where as many do not need even to hear the mention of the word. But who fears death most, is it the atheist, Hindu, traditionalist, theists or Christians? For the Indians who believe in Incarnation of the soul, the fear may be lowered to normal levels since no matter what you do, there will be a reincarnation though if yours deeds where not good enough, you may come out as an undesired animal after death.

The atheists and death

The atheist and theist have little to fear about life after death except for the people they leave behind, that may be the only good thing about being an atheist, you live your life as cool as you want. There are no restrictions of “don’t “in their communities, you only live your life and die when your work on earth is done.

Many people ask them selves what is left for then when they die, the mystery of not having the assurance of the events in the life after death is what scares most. Do the dead dance? Do they sing? Do they remain conscious? We all know that we escort our loved ones to their graves and leave them to what ever we never know. Those glittering graves soon turn into darkness and the Muslims say that the angel comes right away to pass judgment, In some traditions, it is believed that the demon of a person will leave for ever loitering anywhere it will find peace.

The Christian nightmare

But when it comes to the Christians, the fear intensifies, first of all, there are many Christian movements and from the start some people may fear that they may be lost which may result into end time suffering, they carry with them the fear of being on the left hand side when Jesus will separate the sheep from the goat. Then the fear that they may be leaving lives contrary to what God wants them to be, that will automatically qualify them for hell.

As a matter of fact, Christians fear death more than any other group because of that simple word - hell. Though none confess to have tested it, every Christian knows that it is the worst thing which can ever happen to any one. The idea of being burnt for ever (though it may not be true) makes every Christian quake, pagans don’t have such fears and that’s what makes the difference

In Christianity, the concept of judgment is viewed as a nightmare by many, and for that reason, no one would like to die before making his/her life straight. When the books are rolled up yonder, the sinners will be sent to the lake of fire which according to Revelation burns with sulfur, it is too painful for a Christian to think about life at the end of the tunnel without heaven. To be sincere, also can’t imagine leaving a life outside heaven and for that reason, I leave making sure death finds me when am on the right.

But from what I gathered from this was that you pointed out that christians fear hell... The christian believes the Bible and the bible says if you are saved you go no matter what your life leads so you don't fear hell as a christian for if you are a true christian you are saved and thus saved from hell. Other than that a nice "Point of view" at least keep up the good work I like reading this kind of stuff

Thanx dia, i have can see your good point though sometimes even people under the greatest security fear for thier lives

Actually there is no word for HELL in the original Scrolls. That word was used when translating into other languages later on in times. On the contrary, the bible says nothing of burning in hell. Only speaks of Gehenna (which was an actual trash dump outside Jerusalem) not a HELL. Hades (greek) and Sheol (hebrew) mean the common "grave". Someone well educated in the Bible would be aware that there is no HELL. Death is Sleep..it says it very clear in the bible many times. Even Jesus spoke of Lazarus as "sleeping" even when he knew he had died. I am not afraid of Hell because it does not exist. GOD would not torture souls for eternity when he says "The wages sin pays is death"...if that was the case and we did go to hell that would be contradicting what God said about the fact that when we die we paid for our past sins. And if we are to think its contradicting then we are calling GOD a liar and God does not lie. THERE IS NO HELL. -

I hope you do not take my last comment in a bad way. Nice to see someone care enough to even write about it. Good hub!

Hi, i dindt say i belive in eternal burning hell, you cant deny the fact that christians believe in it. So i wrote on that basis. otherwise i belive just like you stated above.

Pachuca213 2 years ago

No, I didn't mean it that way. I appreciate you wrote about other peoples views. I just was speaking out (not against you) But about the people who fear so much about HELL when if they would only draw closer to GOD they would see that a GOD that is "LOVE" is not capable of torturing souls. I didn't mean anything against you. =)I apologize if I wasn't clear.

I will echo the sentiments of dangazzm here. We as Christians do not fear death or life.

Pagans/nonbelievers do not fear because of their disbelief, in the same respect, We do not fear becuase of our belief.

Personally I look at it this way:

I have nothing to fear either way.

If I am right and I have lived a life in service to my God, I have nothing to fear.

If I am wrong, I have nothing to fear as to death being final, what is there to fear in that? Sounds kind of silly since fear is brought on from an impending danger. What danger is there in death if in death there is nothing more??

BUt I will point out that even the Bible states we are to fear not what man can do, as man can only take the body, but we are to fear as in respect, revere the one who has the power to send our soul to hell.

And I will disagree completely with Pachuca213.

In Revelation 20:14-15 we hear of the lake of fire and those not written in the book of life being thrown into it.It is important to note here as well that He clearly states this as the "second death"

Also

Mark 9:48

Jesus Himself spoke of a place where "their worm does not die and the fire unquenched"

Is that representative of someones death? Worm and fire represented to the jews as being pain both internal and external.

In addition to this, we do not "pay for our sins" at the time of our death. How is death of our earthly lives payment for a life of sin?

The only payment we have is just as Jesus and God Himself said, it is through faith and belief in the death and resurection of Jesus Christ. He is our salvation.

We cannot Save ourselves!

And yes, God is loving, but He is also righteous and just.

One cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven as a sinner, having died in those sins.

One must be washed clean.

That only comes with faith with Jesus. He washes our sins off, not death.

Read some passages in the Old Testament regarding Gods judgemnent, his righteous anger towards nonbelievers, sinners, pagans, false prophets and those who followed after and worshiped false gods. See if yhou can tell me there where God "loved" them so much he spared them punishment.

Has God changed? No. He is the same yesterday, today and forever!

God has total distain for sin.

He hates it.

God does not hate the sinner, but cannot reward for bad behavior and certainly will not condone or tolerate for disbelief. To the contrary he points out very clearly through his word the punishment for sin/disbelief.

In knowing what hell is and who it is intended for, God is calling all to repent of their sins and come to Him. To turn away from their sin and believe in Him.

If there is no punishment there is no reason for salvation through Christ, as ALL will die eventually. That (death) is not punishment for sin. That is a natural course which takes placeamd again, ALL of us will eventually die. Or atleast those that will die prior to being raptured.

World of the wise,

As a Christian I do not fear death! I am confident in my Faith and totally TRUST God! I am faithful in my commitment and service to the Lord inside and outside the walls!

It is important to know the Lord through His Word! Once you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior His Holy Spirit then resides within, He is the promised Comforter and Counselor! He will never leave nor forsake you!

You can be assured of your eternal life! "Now this I say, brethern, that flesh amd blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold a mystery, We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-in a moment in a twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead in Christ SHALL be raised incorruptible, and we SHALL be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be bought to pass the saying that is written. Death is swallowed up in VICTORY"!

Through Jesus Christ we have the VICTORY ove death!

Blessings

What the living and the dead have in common is that they're both made up of energy. In fact, everything in the Universe is made up of energy. Energy that never dies, but simply changes form.

Let me put it in relative terms: Think about water for a minute. In a cold, thunderous storm, water often forms into hail; while in a blizzard, water becomes wondrous snowflakes that flutter to the ground. In both instances, water has solidified into an icy or nearly solid form, but once it hits the ground and begins to warm up, it turns back into water. Water eventually evaporates into moisture in the air and travels back up into the atmosphere and repeats the cycle again .. and again. So, water changes form, but its essence, or spirit, remains the same. Likewise, our energy changes form when we leave the physical world, but our spirit remains the same. In other words, we never disappear. We continue to exist.

Imagine the ocean as the place our spirit comes from. Some call this Heaven, Source, Divinity, the Universe. Now imagine a teacup filled with some of that ocean water. That cup represents your physical body and the water inside it represents your spirit. When the cup cracks, or when the body dies, your spirit spills out and returns home.

from "Spirited" by Rebecca Rosen ..

Christianity, Islam, Jehovah Witness, Catholic, Protestant, whatever .. in the end, it won't matter.. The Bible, the Koran, Our Creator did not write a book, these books were written by "sand-strewn men and women who thought the earth was flat and for whom a wheelbarrow would have been a breathtaking example of emerging technology." Sam Harris "The End of Faith" ...

Most people who fall for "blind faith" do not READ, they do not study the history of Man, the Temple of Luxor, the writings of Plato, and other erudite citizens. Wake-Up and you'll begin to understand how "dark and deep the con of man" has always been, then you will rid yourself of the religious dogma that your parents instilled in you, and you have kept it going, as you have instilled such garbage into the minds of your own children. When/if you do wake-up the fear of death is gone as well because you'll understand that energy can never be destroyed. Those who have strong beliefs in a religious faith, be it Christianity or Islam usually fear death the most because no matter what type of life they lived, at death (because I've seen it in a couple of relatives who were "devout" Christians) there is a tremendous fear because part of you thinks that, "wow, what if I end up in Hell" .. and if you would study, while on earth, and get out of that box, you'd understand that you're simply going home, a place you've been before.

Why fear death? Being born to this life you had to die. By dying you are reborn!

Sorry!

It amazes me how little people know in 21st century!
