Dangers of Polygamy

Many of our cultures in Africa cherish polygamy and look at it as a gauge for real men and on several occasions those with one wife are under looked regarding them as weak. However, Religious wise the Muslims all a man to have at least a maximum of four wives only if he can satisfy those wives in every thing you can think of they deserve from a man and should love them equally some thing I doubt whether it can exist. Many feel proud when exercising polygamy and walk with their heads up especially amidst their wives but stay warned because it has got several dangers to those who practice it and their families at large.

There is easy spread of diseases in polygamy set up institution since wives have to share a man with several others and in case one becomes unfaithful and goes out side he might end up killing the rest there sharing a man with. This in the end renders many exposed to diseases like Aids hence leaving the young orphans.

There is a high degree of witchcraft practices in polygamy as the various ladies try to win the husband and consolidate their love for him and frequently leads to death of wives and consequently the husband. This witchcraft some times is extended to the children as these wives become jealousy of one another in case children from one wives perform better in school than the rest this can cause jealousy and those practice witchcraft to make them stupid also which causes disunity in the family.

There is always sexual dissatisfaction on the side of women which leaves them with no option but to commit adultery which brings in more trouble for the entire family. Since a man has several women, in Africa days are allocated for each wife and you find that if a man leaves home t takes him time to come back as he has navigate through the rest before returning and when he comes he might be tired to satisfy this lady sexually which leaves her wanting hence committing adultery.

Polygamous families end up giving birth to many children which they can not cater for hence affecting the economic progress of the family and the country a large. Many children in this families dropout of school because the father can not cater for their fees demands depending on their large number and this gradually but steadily affects their future and their standards of living at home are poor on average because a man can not meet all the basic requirement in the family.

Finally, Men out there before you think of polygamy no matter the advantages you might get, think more on the dangers you might get out the practice because the consequences are too painful to you the father but more on your children
