By world of the wise

The job search is normally tight; especially jobs with few opportunities with many fresh graduates and many mature job seekers already in the field. That may not be the only threat; companies and companies are continuously searching for better people to give them an edge amidst the stiff completion in the economy.

What does this mean for a job seeker? A lot of competitions, a lot of expectations from job seekers thus greater challenges in the job search.

All is however not so bad for an outstanding jobseeker. How do you stand out?

Make a survey of your career before you begin the job search

A smart job seeker should act proactively by making a survey of his or her industry to find out the skills required apart from the mere possession of a bachelors degree or

Masters degree.

One can check out the computer skills required in the field and consequently make an effort of acquiring them before making fruitless applications or interviews. Other skills like communication can also be upgraded to meet the demands in the field.

With such a spirit you will always be an outstanding candidate, the search may not take so long.

Think big

Do not underestimate your self; once you are confident about the required skills for any job you are targeting, however big the company may be or the stiff competition expected for a particular job, be confident and apply. During an interview, do not sell yourself short; lift your self high as much as your skills are.

Even after failure at one interview or two, keep up the spirit and find ways of how you can do better.

Write an appealing cover letter, Curriculum Vitae

A cover letter introduces one searching for a job. Therefore the one you write should be outstanding as well. This does not mean that you use a lot of jargon or vocabulary. In your letter match your skills with the requirements of the job in search a way that you prove to be the right candidate for the job.

The curriculum Vitae should make you outstanding as well. Basing on your qualifications, and additional skills, portray them in a way that the hiring manager will not doubt your experience even if you are a fresh graduate.

Keep in touch, avoid isolation

An outstanding jobseeker does not keep in isolation; it is good to keep in touch with friends, old boys and girls from the same college or high school such that any with an opening can alert you.

Keeping in touch also involves knowing events, seminars and forums organized by practitioners in your career. Attending such happenings is an opportunity to make outstanding connections that can lead to good jobs with ease .This can also be an opportunity to know the current trends in the carreer which can make one outstanding, for instance at a job interview .

An outstanding person is determined, focused and does not bow to fear, one with such an attitude can be criticized but it pays off. Give your self an edge over other job seekers.

You give a lot of really good advice here. I've been job searching since I graduated in August and haven't heard back from any place I've applied to. I will definitely try following what you've said here, especially when it comes to aquiring necessary computer skills.
