There are many types of cancer and all are very dangerous, Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the USA after heart diseases, This makes the treatment of cancer so desirable to reduce on the death caused by the disease. The treatment of cancer is directed to confining and killing the cancerous cells and it can be done through the following basic approaches.

Surgery

This method of cancer treatment has existed for a long time as mean to cure cancer, the good news is that, today we have improved surgical techniques and cancer patients have a longer life expectancy and improved quality of life. In the past, amputation used to be the standard method of treating cancer in the arm and leg bones, but today, doctors can remove the diseased tissue and transplant a healthy tissue from the patient’s body.

Radiation

This is used to penetrate a tumour; the energy destroys the tumour cells by damaging the DNA in the nuclei which stops cell division. Radiation therapy is very successful in arresting certain kinds of cancer such as cervical cancer and in the areas of the body where surgery is difficult such as the head and the neck.

Chemotherapy

This is the use of anti cancer medication in the treatment of the disease, Anti cancer medicine interfere with the cell division of the cancerous cells. The idea is that, if the medicine can break up the process of growth, the cancer will not be spread.

Lifestyle

Cancer is in many times caused by our life style like smoking, eating of meat, and other environmental factors, changing the life style can help some with cancer to improve and it is so important in preventing cancer. Having a proper dieting program , giving up on smoking and exercise, help so much in preventing and treating cancer.

Thanks for the post- I had Tonsil Cancer and went through 35 radiation treatments, 3 chemo treatments, and have severely changed my dietary habit. 2 years later- so far, so good.
